Released value (free, but very limited)

Federal law requires interstate movers to include 'released value' coverage at $0.60 per pound, per item. A 50 lb TV is covered for $30. That's why this is called free — it's also nearly worthless. Read how to get an accurate moving quote to see how movers itemize this in writing.

Full-value protection (recommended)

Full-value protection makes the mover liable for the actual replacement cost of damaged or lost items. Costs roughly 1–2% of the declared value of your shipment. For most long-distance moves, this is the right call.
