About our Specialty Items service
Some items need more than just blankets and a strong back. Pianos, fine art, antiques, gun safes, gym equipment, pool tables, hot tubs, and oversized statues all require specialized rigging, custom crating, and crews who have done it hundreds of times. OnTime Moving Co's specialty crews carry piano boards, skid plates, hump straps, four-wheel dollies, and the climate-controlled trucks needed to protect what's irreplaceable.
Pianos — uprights, baby grands, concert grands, even player pianos — are tipped, padded, and rolled to the truck on professional piano boards by a trained two-to-four person crew. Grandfather clocks have their pendulums and weights properly secured. Original artwork is wrapped in glassine, custom-crated, and transported on padded trucks. Gun safes are dollied, ratcheted, and lifted with stair-climbing equipment when needed.
Every specialty job comes with full-value protection and a written inventory of condition before and after. If you've got a piece that's been in the family for generations or worth more than your car, this is the service you want — not your standard local mover with a pickup truck.

Specialty Items FAQs
How much does it cost to move a piano?
Piano moves typically run $300–$1,000 locally and $700–$2,500 long-distance, depending on size (upright vs grand) and stairs.
Can you move a gun safe?
Yes — safes up to 1,500 lbs are moved using stair-climbing dollies and four-person crews. Quotes typically run $300–$800.
Are specialty items insured during the move?
Yes — specialty items are covered with full-value protection, and condition is documented in writing before and after.
Do you move pool tables and hot tubs?
Yes — both are common specialty jobs. Pool tables are disassembled (we recommend a billiards pro re-felt at destination). Hot tubs require a four-person crew.
